As we shared last week, Hanover County Public Schools is offering a full-time online school option for the 2020-2021 school year. The online school will be K-12 and operate in all phases of the Governor’s order. The online school will also follow a consistent daily schedule that will include online meetings with teachers and classmates, independent and small group work opportunities, and academic intervention when needed. More information about the online school can be found in our Return to Learn Plan.
This document provides a comparison of the divisions' approach to face-to-face learning (with significant modifications in order to employ health mitigation strategies) to the online school, as well as other items to consider before selecting an option. You may also view our Return to Learn FAQs. We will also be hosting a Virtual Town Hall meeting next week to address community questions prior to the online school registration deadline. Please stay tuned for further details on how to attend and submit questions.
To choose the online school option, please complete the Online School Request for Registration form to make your commitment. Families will need to request registration by July 31st if they would like their child to attend the online school. Families choosing face-to-face learning do not need to take any action at this time.
Counselors will be reviewing registration requests, and families will receive an email when the transfer to the online school is complete and/or may be contacted by phone if questions arise about course requests. We appreciate your patience as we move forward with the scheduling process and look forward to welcoming your students in our online school!
